Gear Watch: MIDI Saddle Conversions

MIDI Saddle ConversionsBrown’s Guitar Factory has announced that they will now retro fit Kahler basses to be piezo and MIDI compatible. They are now prepared to distribute the retrofits and installation materials to retailers, custom shops and the players themselves. Brown’s Guitar Factory has developed saddle pieces that integrate piezo elements with the Hexpander and Graphtech Acoustiphonic systems – providing a full MIDI compatible unit.

Luthier John Brown, the brains behind the feature, said “Our goal is to make sure we can provide this feature to any and all who want it, in a way that everyone can benefit.”

The secret is in the retrofit of the saddles. A consistent downward pressure is kept on the strings while the bridge device rotates to provide uninterrupted tracking and consistent beautiful tone. Currently the conversion is available in four, five and six string models with MSRP starting at $265.00. Check out more at Brown’s Guitar Factory’s web site.
