Richard Bona Wins Antonio Carlos Jobim Award

Richard BonaFestival International de Jazz de Montréal has honored bassist Richard Bona with the Antonio Carlos Jobim Award, presented on July 1st, 2010. André Ménard, artistic director and co-founder of the Festival, presented Bona with the award at a press conference on the 1st, with Bona performing music from The Ten Shades of Blues the following evening.

Bona is the seventh recipient of the award, created to honor artists who influence the evolution of jazz and cultural crossover.

Previous winners included Toots & The Maytals (2009), Gilberto Gill (2008), Angélique Kidjo (2007), Salif Keita (2006), Khaled (2005) and Ibrahim Ferrer (2004).

The festival continues through July 6th, 2010.
