Robert Trujillo: New Metallica Album Under Way

Robert TrujilloWith a collaborative album with Lou Reed due out this week, bassist Robert Trujillo has revealed that the next full-fledged Metallica album is under way with producer Rick Rubin’s help.

“We’ve been in the studio with Rick Rubin, working on a couple of things, and we’re going to be recording during the most of next year,” Trujillo told Gulf News. “We’ve got a lot of work ahead of us. But the great thing is that we have sort of already jumped off the launch pad and we’re swimming. It’s happening. It’s reality. It’s a lot of fun, there are a lot of ideas, and we’re really excited about the new record.”

The yet-to-be-titled effort will be the group’s first since Death Magnetic, and the group’s second album since Trujillo replaced bassist Jason Newsted.

Trujillo will assumedly have more input to the new record, as he explained, “For me, personally, Death Magnetic was the launch pad for the next record. This is the beginning of something very, very cool.”

Do we really want another album from Metallica? BORING!

  2. …would like to hear audio more on this.

  3. I’d like to hear Trujillo’s input on the new album. Death Magnetic wasn’t exactly what I was waiting for but it was a step back in the direction I was hoping for.
Also; I’m putting my name up to mix and master the album. Maybe it won’t make people’s ears bleed then.

  4. I want jason back :( love robert but jason’s my hero.
