Our Player Spotlight feature is one of our favorites here at No Treble HQ. Each week, we get to feature a bassist from our community in a big way.

Here are our top 10 most popular bassists in the spotlight for 2011, based on readership.

We first featured bassist Rebecca Johnson and her band in our daily video feature, and reader feedback was terrific. So it was easy to pick Rebecca as our bassist in the spotlight for the week of August 9th, 2011.

Mina Burnside, a 14 year old bassist from Nashville, TN who blew us away with her impressive take on Jaco Pastorius’s “Portrait of Tracy&#8221. Mina was our player in the spotlight for the week of May 3rd, 2011.

Joaquina “Roqui” Lluma

3. Joaquina “Roqui” Lluma

We just featured Joaquina “Roqui” Lluma this month, and her fan base helped propel her quickly up the ranks. Joaquina is a multi-instrumentalist who currently resides in Denver, Colorado and calls music her day job, night job, weekend job and holiday job. Joaquina was our player in the spotlight for the week of December 13th, 2011.

Michael Modeste is a bassist from Hartford, Connecticut and a self-decribed “finger style bass player with a jazz background that somehow fell into the world of heavy metal.” Michael was our player in the spotlight for the week of September 6th, 2011.

Ollie Pietruch is a bassist, session musician and teacher from the UK who some liken to the late Cliff Burton. Ollie was our player in the spotlight for the week of November 1st, 2011.

Lorna Thomas is a bassist from Edinburgh, Scotland who started to play bass when she was 14, by learning the latest Duran Duran single. Three months later, she was out gigging with local bands. Lorna was our player in the spotlight for the week of April 5th, 2011.

Glenn “SmittyG” Smith is a bassist from Texarkana who can play the spectrum of music from country to punk to jazz and everything in between. We’re sure you’ll enjoy sense of humor as much as we did. Not to mention his impressive range of music and gig experience. Glenn was our player in the spotlight for the week of November 22nd, 2011.

Brad Bradly Jenkins is a bassist from Lafayette, Louisiana who focuses on experimentation, creating new sounds, and implementing various kinds of effects. Brad was our player in the spotlight for the week of April 12th, 2011.

Patrick McCarthy is a bassist from New York who believes guitarists shouldn’t have all the fun (amen!). Patrick was our player in the spotlight for the week of April 26th, 2011.
