ChordBot: A Look at the Songwriting and Accompaniment Tool for iOS and Android

ChordBot screenChordBot is a wonderful, easy to use app which is equally powerful for songwriting as it is for accompaniment. The app allows you to develop and play chord progressions in a number of styles.

ChordBot features 60 different chord types (including slash chords), 50+ comping styles, a song generator, as well as the ability to export your files as midi, wav or AudioCopy.

The app also allows you to set a “time signature” for each chord which, essentially, allows you to decide how long the app will play that chord before moving on to the next.

I’ve found this app both fun to play along to, and also quite useful for experimenting with chord progressions. This is also a handy practice tool as it’s quite easy to simply enter a chord progression to practice over.

My only wish for the app is to see a universal version in the future. It’d be nice to have on the iPad and could also benefit from the extra screen real-estate.

The full app is available for $4.99 for iOS and Android. There is a lite version for iOS, with a limited number of comping styles and some features disabled.

This is one great addition to your music routine for your iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad (iPad has the iPhone display), and Android devices.
