Ibanez Unveils Gerald Veasley Signature GVB36 Bass Guitar

In 2010, Ibanez unveiled the Gerald Veasley Signature GVB1006 Bass. Built by the company’s master luthiers in Japan, it comes with a price point that not everyone can reach. For 2012, Ibanez has introduced the GVB36, which shares many of the same attributes while making it more affordable.

Ibanez Gerald Veasley Signature GVB36 Bass

Similar to the 1006, the GVB36 is a 6-string with a string spacing of 14mm at the bridge, instead of Ibanez’s usual 16.5mm. The narrower spacing suits Veasley’s style, which incorporates a fair amount of chordal playing.

For materials, the bass includes an alder body with a nice flamed maple top and a 3-piece maple neck with a rosewood fretboard.

The bass’s pickups are a pair of Bartolini MK1’s, which are then paired with an EQB-IIISP 3-band EQ. Other features include a Mono-Rail IV Bridge, Gotoh Tuners, and an amber finish.

The Ibanez Gerald Veasley Signature GVB36 will be available this Spring with a street price of about $1,099. For more, check out the Ibanez website.

  1. 6 string Bass is not BASS………………..

  2. is there a 5 string version? I loved my SR505.

  3. Saw the picture first, then saw the poster….confused I was, now I’m with desire. I like the idea of the strings being closer together, as I love throwing chords into bass lines, adds timbral and textural flavour and with my not-very-long fingers, this would make it so much more easier. And before anyone decides I’m not a purist, congratulations, all that without seeing that I use a capo on a 5-string to save down tuning or my umpteen million FX pedals.

  4. I’m gettin’ one. I LOVE playing bass chords.

  5. Holy cow 14mm string spacing? I’d be messing up all over that thing!
