Progressive rock/fusion group BangTower is gearing up for a tour with the release of several new music videos over the coming weeks. Bassist Percy Jones anchors the trio, which also features guitarist Neil Citron and drummer Walter Garces for the coming tour.
The video releases will include tracks from the band’s most recent release, Casting Shadows, as well as footage from recent rehearsals in Los Angeles as the group prepares to hit the road.
In our interview with Jones, No Treble contributor Wayne McLeod said, “Percy Jones is one of the definitive figures who carved out a role for the fretless bass and helped establish its place on the contemporary music scene. Best known for his work with jazz-fusion band Brand X, Percy collaborated with likes of Phil Collins and Robin Lumley. Brand X’s early 70?s debut Unorthodox Behaviour established the band as one of the UK’s top fusion units.”
Brand X was formed by Jones along with Genesis drummer Phil Collins in 1975. The group was started as a “jam” band and funded by Island Records. Island’s A&R representative wrote the name “Brand X” to keep track of their activity in the studio calendar, and the name stuck.
BangTower’s tour dates are currently being scheduled and will be announced soon.
