Aguilar Introduces AG 4P-60 P-Style Pickup
Aguilar Amplification has unveiled the AG 4P-60 P-bass pickup, modeled after company president Dave Boonshoft’s personal 1964 Fender Precision Bass. The vintage-style pickup is described as having just the right amount of “mid-range nose” to cut through a band while retaining hefty low end.
Designed as a direct replacement for Fender Precision and other P-style basses, the pickup is built in Aguilar’s New York City factory using period correct parts, including Heavy Formvar wire and Alnico V magnets.
The Aguilar AG 4P-60 pickup is available now with a street price of $109. For more, visit the Aguilar website.
Aguilar AG 4P-60 Specs:
- Wire: Heavy Formvar, 42 gauge
- Magnets: Alnico V
- Cable: Single conductor, cloth-covered
I’m having a custom P-Bass built.I would like to hear some player reviews on these pickups.
Rod, I just put some Seymour Duncan Quarter Pounders in a piece of crap Ibanez bass and they brought that thing to life! Very balanced tone and not muddy at all.
@[1409136557:2048:Thom Abell] ,Thanks Thom!! I have considered those also.
I just put some bartolini’s in my american p. I really really dig them!
Eric Hockenberry Thanks Eric.I like bartolini’s.My MTD 535 has them. But for the P-Bass,I’m looking to go traditional.
Thanks Eric!! I’m looking for some that have a certain “grit” to them.
I went with DiMarzio DP-122’s.
Did you use the aggies in your build ?
Seymour Duncan SPB-1 Vintage P-Bass pick-ups are what I have on my P-Bass and I LOVE ’em!
