Sunder Panatella: “The Answer” Solo Bass Performance

Grant Stinnett sent in this great video of Sunder Panatella playing his ethereal and original solo bass composition, “The Answer.”

“The inspiration [for] this song came from different emotions that I experienced and I had few questions that I’ve been searching the answers for,” Panatella explained. “I think I found ‘The Answer’ thru music.”

For the song, Panatella used the Boss GT10 multi-effects unit, and he notes the strings pad was inspired by Michael Manring.

“For the ebow I wanted a patch thats really soulful and makes it sound close to a Conch,” he said.

  1. VERY cool, Sunder. What was really interesting is that my wife has a number of wind chimes on the porch right outside my window and it REALLY sounded cool that they were in pitches and rhythms that were almost sympathetic to the music you were making… made it sound even more other-worldly… I might suggest you try it. Which is NOT to say that your playing wasn’t awesome on it’s own, because it IS spectacular… it just added a little bit more.

  2. I met Sunder with his band while I was judging a Campus Rock contest many years ago… His seriousness was apparent even then… Strangely out of the many contestants I have been privileged to witness and judge over the years just two or three have pursued music as I hoped they would aa gut feel I had back then, and Sunder is one of them… Keep going lil bro… :) The BIG DEEDS count never mind the BIG WORDS they are only words :))).

  3. Sunder is one of the most inspiring personality I have ever come across. His dedication towards his passion is something that we should learn from him. I felt that his talent was not acknowledged to the fullest in Chennai. I BELIEVE that he is in good hands now and he would reach places. Sunder pls don stop listening to what I call “Your guardian angel” cause I think it is a key to your success.
