Victor Wooten: Victor’s Jam

Three words that mean a lot to us around here: Victor Wooten and Jam.

One of the commenters said it best: “He can groove fast. He can groove slow. Mr. Wooten is the master of flow.”

Now, who wants to transcribe this for us?

  1. Hs been a while since I’ve seen this one. Thanks!

  2. Damn. And this was back when he was still sporting the ‘stache.

  3. Anyone wants to explain what he does at 0:29?
    Its kinda awesome.

    • I have a fairly good idea of what he does. As he frets at the second fret he touches a the strings for a natural harmonic at around the 26th fret (two octaves from his fretted position) he then vibratos the note with his fretting hand. It is really hard to pull off if your action isn’t set up just right. The action on my Fender is set fairly high so this is REALLY tough for me, but I have an old Kramer that looks a lot like the bass he’s playing that I can pull this off pretty easily. I hope this helps.

  4. Once again, Victor just blows my mind. :) This man is amazing… One of the Greatest of All Time.
