Stuart Clayton: Thumb King
Stuart Clayton is back with a new video, this time demonstrating a tune he wrote for the Rockschool Exam board.
Stuart says this composition was written to meet a requirement for a “slap bass composition in the style of Mark King/Level 42”.
Good stuff as always from Mr. Clayton! (And great camera work too.)
Where’s the fader for the synth?
but it DOES sound like Mark King.
Stu…great job. I like the flow and dynamics you’ve put together to create this. Nice playing as well…quite clean and even (at least to my ears). Did you play the backing track’s instrumentation as well?

Thanks for the kind words. Terry, I programmed some of the keys parts, but the awesome solo was played by a session player whose name I forget! The drums were played by @[612616563:2048:Noam Lederman], who absolutely nailed it! I’m hoping this track proves to be a popular part of the syllabus.
Loved it, I don’t analyze too often, just enjoy the music, I enjoyed this
Nailed it. I like the sound of the amp/bass too.
