Victor Wooten Announces Two New Albums and Tour Dates

Victor Wooten 2012 TourBetween his constant tour dates with the Flecktones, intrepid bassist Victor Wooten has been hard at work, and the final proof of that work comes out this September with the release of two new albums: Words & Tones and Sword & Stone.

Words & Tones will be comprised of 13 tracks featuring vocalists Saundra Williams, Divinity Roxx and Me’Shell Ndegeocello.

Sword & Stone presents instrumental renditions of the recordings, with Wooten mixing it up by adding different arrangements, solos, instruments and more.

Though the albums are so closely linked, each will feature a few unique songs not found on the other.

Wooten has also announced a new tour featuring musicians from the new album, with vocalist Krystal Peterson, J.D. Blair, Derico Watson, Anthony Wellington, Steve Bailey and Dave Welsch. Though each band member is a wizard of their instrument, the show will be shaking things up by having them multi-tasking and switching instruments mid-song.

“Like the new records, I’ll make a slight departure from previous bands,” Wooten explains. “This time around, I’ll be featuring a unique mixture of multi-instrumentalists. Fans can expect high energy, world-class musicianship, and as always, things they’ve never seen or heard before. The show will consist of mostly new music from my upcoming 2 new CD’S, but will also feature songs from my earlier releases, as well as original music from members of the band, including selections from 2012?, J.D.Blair’s new CD, which was just released on VIX Records.”
