Fender Custom Shop Dusty Hill Precision Bass

The Fender Custom Shop has expanded its Artist Series instruments with the Dusty Hill Signature Precision Bass. Available in Black and Nocaster Blonde, the bass oozes old school with a road worn finish and reverse headstock.

The ZZ Top bassist helped tweak the bass, which features a custom designed Seymour Duncan pickup, a custom neck shape, and rear-routed controls. The body is a lightweight ash while the neck is quartersawn maple.

The Fender Custom Shop Dusty Hill Signature Precision Bass is available for order with a street price of around $4,800. For more, check out the Fender Custom Shop website.

  1. Oh Dusty……. I really like you man. Why did you have to go and endorse this overpriced stick?

  2. Too much money Fender. Way too much.

  3. as much as I love ZZ, there’s no possible way on earth that I’d EVER pay THAT much for ANY fender product, period

  4. I’m pretty sure I can make one like this at warmoth for WAY less. or get sandberg to do a custom shop one…

  5. Aaah Hooow Hooow Hooow….. Fender’s hittin’ all the price points. Mercy!

  6. This must be a joke… 4.800 bucks for a outworn piece of wood?

  7. Hahaha! 4,800 $…you must be joking, Fender.

  8. I was noticing the neck is narrow (1.5″), which width of a jazz bass neck. But $4800! Do you know how many cheap sunglasses you could buy with that kinda dough!

  9. $4,800? I could get a brand new Alembic for less than that. I got a few Precisions and love them all, but that price just tries to capitalize on Dusty’s rep. You dreamin, Fender. Ain’t going to happen.

  10. 4800! I think that I better going to buy a car… at least a used car.

  11. $4,800.00? You can buy 2 high end basses for that or go get a James Trussart. Man Fender is losing it. I love my 1989 62 Reissue Jazz Bass ( I call her old reliable) though. :)

  12. I’m pretty sure I could build this from parts on eBay, whether 80s MIA or MIJ parts for way, way less.. like, thousands. Actually, I’d be surprised if I couldn’t get this done for under 400. Especially considering the “condition” of the components…

  13. Cool Bass.Easy to copy, screw fender;).

  14. I GOT MINE FOR $1800 FROM A GUY WHO NEEDED THE $$$$. IT IS A BADASS BASS AND AT 7 LB.S 10 OZ. IT IS A PLEASURE TO PLAY ALL NIGHT. DON’T THINK I WOULD PAY $4800 BUT IT IS WORTH WHAT I PAID FOR HER.

  15. I can’t wait to get one, NOT It might be good for dusty hill, but not for me, 48oo.oo. this has to be a joke, or else the boy’s at fender are rolling with zig zag after lunch.
