Bass of the Week: GMR Bassforce NT

GMR Bass Guitars Bassforce NT - Top

While checking out different luthiers’ websites, I came across the GMR Bassforce NT: a neck-through version of their flagship model. Based out of the UK, GMR’s Bassforce is proof of their constant work.

“The shape is seen on Bassforce is a case of evolution of early models which started coming out from the workshop nearly 30 years ago,” explains GMR’s Daniel Sakowski. “Simply – we try to achieve the best balance between looks, sound and comfort.”

As with the rest of their instruments, the Bassforce NT is entirely handcrafted without aid from digital equipment like CNC cutters. The woods used, which GMR admits they have “an element of snobbery” in choosing, include a mahogany body with a flamed maple top, a 3-piece maple neck, a rosewood fingerboard, and an ebony nut. The pickups are a pair of Bassculture dualcoil soapbars that are matched up with John East U-Retro 5-knob electronics. Hardware includes an ETS bridge, Gotoh tuners, and Schaller security locks.

Each GMR Bassforce NT is built to order with plenty of options available. The base price is £3100 (approx. $4862 USD), with a build time of 5-8 months. For more info, check out the GMR website.

  1. These are beautiful. You can tell the quality is actually reflective of the price, but until I have 5g’s to drop into a bass, guess I can only window shop for now.

  2. just to make clear – GMR have been a Polish company since the beginning, they still do the bulk of woodworking in Poland, only very recently moved the business side of things to the UK purely for market reasons, like greater demand, better availability of parts, John East etc :)

  3. These basses are fantastic. They are made entirely in the UK and are of the highest quality woods and craftsmanship. I have one!

Mike, they aren’t all this price, go on the website and have a look mate.
