Billie Jean’s All Stars, Featuring Marcus Miller
What do you get when you have five jazz masters improvise to an a cappella version of Michael Jackson’s “Billie Jean”? An Italian radio show decided to find out by having their guests record to Jackson’s voice while they were on the show.
Bassist Marcus Miller, guitarist Jean Paul “Bluey” Maunick, drummer Billy Cobham, trumpeter Enrico Rava, and pianist Stefano Bollani were each guests on the Radio 2, RaiTunes over an 8 month period. Incredibly none of them were together when they tracked. The show finally put all of their performance together for this extremely hip version of “Billie Jean,” with video that was aired by RaiTune5 on Rai5.
Miller sticks to the groove like only he can, with an absolutely killer tone. Crank up the volume and jam!
Oh, my goodness… Where would you ever find another Billy Cobham?
we wont. he was one of a kind…. what a man.
@Zane you must mean that he is one of a kind (not was). He’s still living. lol
