Flea Releases Debut Solo EP, “Helen Burns”

Flea: Helen BurnsFlea has released his debut solo album entitled Helen Burns on a pay-what-you-will basis and serving as a fundraiser for the Silverlake Conservatory of Music. Recorded over a couple of days after the Red Hot Chili Peppers finished touring Stadium Arcadium, the bassist explains the mostly instrumental EP is not what most fans will expect.

“Warning! It is not a Chili Peppers record,” he states. “It does not have songs that are like the Chili Peppers at all. It is a mostly instrumental, weird and arty record, the music is mostly just me creating soundscapes that are very emotional for me, but certainly not for everyone! Just me tripping out at home. I am putting it out to raise money for The Silverlake Conservatory of Music a community based non profit music school that i am an integral part of.”

Fans can get Helen Burns from the Silverlake website, with price options ranging from $0 to $500. The album will become available through all digital music retailers on August 9th.

A special $75 package includes an autographed 180-gram vinyl version and a piece of a bass string played by Flea on tours. The vinyl package is limited to 900 copies and will ship on August 10th.
