Pat Metheny Unity Band

Pat Metheny’s Unity band, featuring bassist Ben Williams, has been touring Europe all summer. Following a two week break, the band is kicking off a fall tour of the US today.

The band, which also includes saxophonist Chris Potter and drummer Antonio Sanchez, is touring in support of the Unity Band album, released in June. As we reported then, Williams was introduced to Metheny by bassist Christian McBride.

  1. Hey Corey, I have a “Treble” observation for you. Have you noticed that 3 of the most talented jazz guitarist (and my favorites) all have or had CRAZY BIG hair. Take a look at Pat Metheny, Lee Ritenour and Larry Coryell. At times during their careers they all looked like maniacs. Maybe it’s some kind of Samson Syndrome where their prowess lies in their hair. I’m too old for big hair; heck I do good just to have any hair at all. But is there a syndrome that endows bass players with super talent?
