Bass Icons Stanley Clarke and Ben Williams Unite for NJPAC Concert November 9

The New Jersey Performing Arts Center will be rumbling on November 9th as NEA Jazz Master Stanley Clarke will be presenting his new band, 4EVER. As if that wasn’t enough, fellow bassist Ben Williams will be opening the show with his own blend of soul-infused jazz.
“Clarke’s storied career has been awash with showcases in his virtuosity on the acoustic and electric basses,” says NJPAC. “He’s worked with fellow music titans like Chick Corea, George Duke, Jean-Luc Ponty and Al Di Meola, and has scored for film and television. From 1974-1976, Clarke dropped a series of solo albums that would herald his status as a force in music and foreshadow his 2022 designation as an NEA Jazz Master.”
Clarke formed 4EVER in 2022. The group features pianist Cameron Graves, drummer Jeremiah Collier, saxophonist Emilio Modeste, guitarist Colin Cook, and violinist Evan Garr. Earlier this summer, they blew the roof off of NPR’s office during a Tiny Desk Concert.
A native of DC, Ben Williams grew up in a rich jazz culture. He’s played with just about every leading jazz star and has his own discography to boot. Check out the video for “Blue” from his latest release, Between Church & State.
Clarke and Williams will be performing at NJPAC on November 9th as part of the TD James Moody Jazz Festival. For more info, visit the NJPAC website.
