Simone Masina Solo Bass: Prelude from Cello Suite No.1 in G Major

This one seemed perfect to share on a Sunday afternoon. Bassist Simone Masina sent us this video of him performing J.S. Bach’s Prelude – the first movement of Cello Suite No.1 in G Major.

Simone plays a beautiful Ritter for the recording, but what also caught our attention is where Simone recorded this video: at Quattro Castella – Reggio Emilia (Castle of Bianello).

Simone shares, “Bianello was one of the many castles of Matilla of Canossa, one of the most interesting historical figures of the Middle Ages.”

Epic all around.

  1. Sounds great. I liked the dynamics and the other things he “added”. It really brought the piece to life. I played this one half way through as it normally reads on bass (thank you 5 string) for one of my jury pieces.

  2. the musicianship is awesome, but the only thing missing from this ridiculous video is a shot of Masina walking hand in hand down a beach….at sunset…with a giant hunk of cheese…..

  3. sei mitico Simone Masina.

  4. clean, pure sound… bravissimo!

  5. Great job man, congrats!
