Xotic Introduces 4-String Version of XP-1T Bass

Xotic has released a 4-string of the XP-1T model, which thus far had only been available as a 5-string. The P-style bass offers vintage and modern tones by including a toggle for passive or active electronics. The active portion is Xotic’s Tri-Logic bass preamp, which has Bass, Mid, and Treble controls, a Mid switch, a Bright switch, and an Active Output Gain Control.

Similar to the 5-string, the new XP-1T is made with an Alder body, maple neck, and rosewood fingerboard. The bridge and tuners are both made by Hipshot, with their Bass Xtender Key available as an upgrade. Standard finishes include Sherwood Green Metallic and a 3-tone Burst, though many options are listed on their site.

  1. I would really, really like to own one of these basses. But, unfortunately, they are still out of my price range. Oh well, I guess I’ll just be content with my Fender and G&L.

  2. Same here, nice tone high price, out of my pocket book range. That’s why I’ve owned and played the same bass for 43 years(69 Fender Jazz, which I’ve modified:Bassline Hot-Stacked Humbuckers, painted the cavity’s with non-conductive paint and line with copper shielding tape, Leo Quan II bridge and a Stellartone Tonestyler) use only one pedal, a classic Tubeworks BluesTube(original owner). It has the tone all these Boutique bass’ try to achieve for much more than I paid for mine new back in 1969.

  3. Wow, that is one nifty bass! Too bad I can’t afford it.. Would enjoy playing one, even for a minute!

  4. That’s a Precision Elite copy!

  5. This is an awesome instrument, one of the best P-Bass builds on the market. Very powerful old school and modern tones from passive and active (18v) modes along with top-grade construciton.
