Pablo Elorza: “Havona” Lesson and Analysis

Bassist Pablo Elorza has started a new series on YouTube he’s calling “Deep Into Electric Bass Classics” with the infamous Jaco Pastorius tune “Havona.”

Elorza rips through the tune, then breaks it all down for everyone trying to learn. He speaks in Spanish, but don’t worry, there are English subtitles for his in-depth analysis.

Time to hit the woodshed!

In his time with No Treble, Kevin has met hundreds of amazing bassists and interviewed icons like Jack Casady, Victor Wooten, Les Claypool, Marcus Miller, and more. He's a gigging bassist performing jazz in Northern Virginia and bluegrass with The Plate Scrapers up and down the East Coast. Kevin appreciates all genres of music, from R&B to metal and everything in between. Connect with Kevin on Facebook and check his performance schedule on his website.

  4. Thankyou, Pablo for shedding so much light on one of my favorite Jaco pieces. Your presentation is very clear and easy to understand. I never thought I would understand what jaco was doing. I thought I would just have to memorize it, play it and not understand it! Please keep your series going!
