Led Zeppelin Releases “Celebration Day”
On December 10, 2007, the surviving members of Led Zeppelin reunited for the first time since in 27 years. The concert, which served as a memoriam to friend and Atlantic Records founder Ahmet Ertegun, is now available as a DVD/CD set called Celebration Day.
The band’s lineup features its surviving members – singer Robert Plant, guitarist Jimmy Page, and bassist John Paul Jones – as well as the late John Bonham’s son Jason on drums.
Led Zeppelin fans will be pleased as they relive the band ripping through 16 of their songs that essentially serve as a greatest hits. While they have repeatedly denied further reunions, Jones says the performance was a thrill.
“It was really exciting to be there and doing it again,” he told Absolute Radio. “It didn’t seem to be as if the years had intervened at all. It went really well, and we’re really pleased about it.”
Celebration Day is available now in several variations. The standard edition is a DVD or Blu-ray with two CDs, while there are also a music-only CD, Blu-ray, and vinyl
sets, as well as digital formats (iTunes and Amazon MP3). The Deluxe Edition includes a bonus DVD with footage of their dress rehearsal at Shepperton Studios and more.
