Kim Deal Quits The Pixies

Kim Deal

Kim Deal has left the iconic alternative rock band The Pixies, according to a post on the band’s Facebook page.

“We are sad to say that Kim Deal has decided to leave the Pixies. We are very proud to have worked with her on and off over the last 25 years. Despite her decision to move on, we will always consider her a member of the Pixies, and her place will always be here for her. We wish her all the best.”

Deal was a member of The Pixies since 1986, after she answered a classified ad in the Boston Phoenix. She also founded The Breeders in the ‘90s while the Pixies were on hiatus. The Pixies eventually reunited in 2004 and have toured off and on since then. The news of Deal’s leaving comes amid rumors of the band working on a new album, which would be their first since 1991’s Trompe le Monde.

A replacement bassist has yet to be announced.
