Bastard Basses Announces Little Bastard Bass
Bastard Basses has launched with an innovative prototype called the Little Bastard. Born out of a final exam project for designer Szabolcs Sinka’s Master’s in Product Design, the prototype bass is based around a 32-inch to 30-inch multi-scale neck. The bass’s concept also incorporates some forward thinking in the design process for ergonomics and visual flair.
“Little Bastard uses a unique design language as its shapes follow a matrix that creates a visual balance between the body and the multi-scale fretting system,” Sinka explains. “The matrix was specially designed to make the look of multi-scale guitars pleasing to the eye.”
The Little Bastard is built with a cherry body, maple neck, and rosewood fingerboard. Its dual coil pickup can be switched between parallel, single, and series modes, while the NOLL TCM 3 passive/active electronics offer a 3-band EQ with mid switch. Hardware includes Gotoh tuners, aluminum control knobs, and a mono-rail bridge.
For now, the Little Bastard is made to order and can be created with a variety of finishes, woods, and hardware. The current price is between $2,200 and $2,600 depending on options, though the company is currently working on a version that could be mass produced for less. I want one now.
I just don’t like it.
Beminds me of a Kubicki, of which I was not a big fan. But anyone who makes a fan fret bass is alright with me.
Sexy bastard
Interesting, I wonder how comfortable it is.
Looks like a potato.

now I love them, first company who try to make their product cheaper and more affordable! good job!
I’m sure it’s a great bass and innovative, too, but just give me a Fender, Musicman Stingray, or a G&L, and I’m a happy guy.
Does it come with the sunglasses?
I like this. I am a sucker for unique looking instruments.
I like it. Its just too expensive. Its going to be hard to sell something this far away from traditional design with no presence in stores and cost this much.
Bastard? I don’t like the name.
Why not a 34″ scale?
Why so expensive ?
Looks alot like my old Roland Gr77B (which I miss greatly)
take the head stock off, make it tunable at the at the bottom, add trem system, funky as fuck, love the name, nice work guys
