Olivier Carole: Sa Kay
Emeline Fougeray asked us to share this video of Olivier Carole performing the tune “Sa Kay”.
Emeline plays in Olivier’s band Oceakyl, which features two basses. (Check out Oceakyl’s tune “No One Can Be You“, from the archives).
Emeline said, “This is [Olivier’s] solo project: fretless and fretted basses, voice and beat box. The song “Sa Kay” sung in Martinique’s creole language is about a world without frontiere (a musical word for free spirit). Olivier finishes with a great fretless, scat and slap bass solo… I hope you will enjoy it too.”
We sure did. We think you will too.

But damn, that’s some great groove and melody.
