King Crimson Announce Reunion Tour Dates with Tony Levin

King Crimson

It’s really happening: King Crimson has just announced the initial tour dates with their latest incarnation – their eighth. The group’s lineup and plans for touring were announced back in September, with bassist Tony Levin returning to the fold. The rest of the band includes founder Robert Fripp, guitarist Jakko Jakszyk, saxophonist Mel Collins, and drummers Bill Reiflin, Pat Mastelotto and Gavin Harrison.

Levin is keeping everyone up to date with his online diary. Members of the group have begun rehearsing, but the rest of the band will get together next week. “We started off today with just Jakko, Robert and myself, while Pat, Gavin and Bill are rehearsing the drum parts elsewhere,” Levin wrote. “Mel will join us tomorrow, and next week we’ll all be together for the first run throughs of music with the full band.”

Though it’s not clear what music the band will be playing, Levin is gearing up for it. “Anyway, I always expect the experiences with Crimson to be my most challenging, and it’s likely this will be in that category. And so far, it’s been fun too!”

King Crimson will be kicking off their return at The Egg in Albany, New York. The tour will be focusing on major cities including Boston, New York, Los Angeles, and Chicago between September and October.

  1. Love this but Missing Belew :/.

    • Keep on open mind and a stiff upper lip my friend and face it…after 30 years it was time for something different! There was a huge back catalog never unearthed by the Belew/Fripp coupling which is now possible.

  2. Vamsi

WOW, best news in a long time.

  3. Would love it if they played anywhere remotely near Colorado.

  4. Great news, but not having Belew aboard is kind of a downside…

Post RED Crimson without Belew? HERESY! No shows south of the Mason Dixon Line? SICKENING!
