Peter Gabriel Launches New Album Cycle With “Been Undone,” Featuring Tony Levin

In 2023, Peter Gabriel released i/o, which marked his first album in 12 years. Now, the singer has surprised fans by releasing a brand new track called “Been Undone,” which he says is part of his next album.
“I’m delighted to say that tonight, at the full moon, we will be beginning another year of full moon releases under the name o\i,” he shared on his website. “The songs are a mix of thoughts and feelings. I have been thinking about the future and how we might respond to it. We are sliding into a period of transition like no other, most likely triggered in three waves; AI, quantum computing and the brain computer interface. Artists have a role to look into the mists and, when they catch sight of something, to hold up a mirror. These are my lumpy bits –i/o: the inside has a new way out and o\i: the outside has a new way in.”
Similar to its predecessor, o/i will be released track by track on the first full moon of each month, and each song will have a “Dark-side” and a “Bright-side” mix. The entire album will be released in full at the end of the year.
“Been Undone” features the same core musicians from i/o, including drummer Manu Katché, guitarists David Rhodes, and bass great Tony Levin, who famously performed on Gabriel’s hit “Sledgehammer” among other tracks.
2026 will mark 50 years since Levin met Gabriel, beginning a fruitful partnership. “I’ve been sharing his music and friendship ever since [1976], and his artistry and personality have informed and inspired my life,” the bassist wrote in 2016.
