Leo Nocentelli’s Meters Experience, Featuring Bill Dickens: Live in New Orleans

The great week of bass birthdays continues with the fantastic Bill Dickens, whose birthday is today. Here’s a great clip of Dickens laying it down with guitarist Leo Nocentelli’s Meters Experience at a concert in New Orleans.

Dickens is known for his unbelievable speed and soloing, but this trio setting lets the bassist showcase his gigantic groove. Of course, he still lets it fly during his solos as the group tears through “The Hype and the Hoopla,” “Fire on the Bayou,” and “Cissy Strut.”

Happy birthday, Bill!
