New Slipknot Bassist Revealed?

Slipknot 2014

Ever since Paul Gray’s death in 2010, Slipknot fans have been wondering how the band would replace such an integral member. Their subsequent tours have included former guitarist Donnie Steele on bass, but with a new album and tour coming up the band is rumored to have stopped working with him.

Although Slipknot has been secretive about their new bassist as well as their new drummer, a music video for their new song “The Devil in I” seems to indicate that Alessandro “Vman” Venturella is now filling that role.

The video has brief focus on the bassist, who has a distinctive hand tattoo that matches Venturella’s. His role has not been officially confirmed by the band. Venturella has served as a guitar tech for Mastodon, Fightstar and Coheed and Cambria, as well as a member of Krokodil.

Lead singer Corey Taylor said that the band’s new members will wear identical generic masks as opposed to the original members’ unique character masks.

The band’s fifth studio album, .5: The Gray Chapter, is due out October 21st and will be the first full release of new material without Gray and drummer Joey Jordison, who left in 2013.
