Nate Watts to Join Stevie Wonder on “Songs in the Key of Life” Tour
Stevie Wonder’s Songs in the Key of Life is one of the most brilliant albums ever made. Musicians from all walks of life cite it as a heavy influence, and it was ranked at 57 on the Rolling Stone’s 500 greatest albums of all time.
Wonder will be presenting the album in its entirety on an 11-date North American tour from November to December. It will be the keyboardist’s first tour in five years.
Naturally, bassist Nate Watts will be joining the R&B superstar on the trek. Watts has a special role in the band as he played bass on the 1976 record, which includes the smash hits “Sir Duke,” “I Wish,” “Isn’t She Lovely,” “As,” and more. He’s been with Wonder ever since and has served as his musical director. The band will also include Greg Phillinganes, Stanley Randolph, Munyungo Jackson, and Errol Cooney. Each date is expected to have special guests, though they have yet to be announced.
Wonder’s tour will kick off on November 6th at Madison Square Garden in New York City before heading down the East Coast and then west to wrap it up at the Oracle Arena in Oakland, California.
