Ken Smith Basses Introduces Single Cut Body Option
Ken Smith is now offering a single cut body shape as an option to their neck thru models. The option is a first for the company, which has only offered double cut designs in the past.
The first bass to receive the single cut treatment was a BSR5MS featuring a highly figured tiger maple body, a 3-piece laminated aged hardrock maple neck reinforced with graphite bars, and an ebony fingerboard.
The Single Cut option is available can be added to any neck thru model for $495 extra plus the price of the bass.

What is the advantage of the single cut? is there a difference in the tone, or is it just a fad?
They look great! About 15 – 20 years ago there was a music show like NAMM in NYC and I went up to Ken Smith and asked if he had any body shapes than his classi double cut-away. Boy, the look he gave me . . . I guess I was ahead of the times!! LOL
I really wish they’d bring the J series back for people want a traditional string pull/ tone. Anyway, they’re nice, but a half a grand for a single cut? That a bit much specially since these instruments are around 6 grand a pop.
