Zander Zon: Star Wars Medley
You may have heard that a new Star Wars film hits the big screen this week (as in, 1,000 times a day or more).
Leave it to Zander Zon to combine some of our all-time favorites – bass, Star Wars and the music of John Williams – into one terrific video.
“I’m a massive Star Wars fan and growing up I was always having pretend lightsaber battles. The music is so memorable and iconic, and I wanted to try to capture it’s energy and beauty,” Zander shared with me. “I’m tuned G, E?/D, D, G and use a Spider Capo, an Ebow, and I loop one section for added texture.”
Just plain awesome.
Fantastic!
Is that supposed to be Eb/D#? Dont understand how it can be tuned to two different notes.
Thanks!
Nate, that string is tuned to D, but with the Spider Capo pressing down on the first fret, it effectively becomes an open string of Eb. I use the Eb in ‘The Force Theme’ as that’s one of the harmony notes. When I release the capo at the start of ‘Duel of the Fates’, the open string is a D, which I use for the rest of the arrangement.
Captivating! Such talent and imagination and musicality. Well done!
Ahh okay, very cool. Awesome video btw!
Cheers, Nate!
Thanks a lot, stewthebassman!
Fantastic , very well played , wish everyone a nice Christmas and upbeat New Year.
Amazing work Zander! Quick question: What pedal are you using in the video?
Thanks, Juan and Mark!
Juan – that is a DL4 Line 6 loop pedal.
