Weezer Announces New Album, Music Video, 2016 Tour Dates
Good news, Weezer fans: the band has announced a new self titled album, an extensive 2016 tour, and a new music video. The whirlwind announcement was made on their website.
“This album was inspired by my experiences hanging around the Westside of Los Angeles, which has been our home since Weezer began,” frontman Rivers Cuomo wrote. “Hanging out with people in Venice and Santa Monica, the beach, the Hare Krishnas, the Sikh on roller blades with the guitar, girls on Tinder within a 4 mile radius, seeing other bands, etc. I would just tweet out “does anybody wanna hang?” and then I’d get together with people who responded and talk about life. I love California. I wanted the album to have a Beach Boys sort of vibe to make you feel like you were there with us SoCal weirdos even if you’re in Milwaukee in December.”
The album is glued together by the muscular bass lines of Scott Shriner. Check out the bassist’s big sound on the new single, “King of the World”:
Weezer will be have a handful of album release shows in New York, the UK, and the Netherlands before embarking on a summer-long North American tour with Panic at the Disco. The trek begins June 10th in The Woodlands, Texas before circling the U.S. and Canada to wind up in Irvine, California on August 6th.
The album is due out April 1st, which Cuomo promises is not a joke.

That Weezer dude ate that chicks chips then ran and tossed his cookies.
