Ashdown Engineering Unveils AAA EVO Bass Amplification Series
Ashdown’s AAA combo amps have evolved. Introduced at the Winter NAMM show, the AAA EVO collection includes four combo amps as well as a 1×15″ cabinet. Each of the combos comes with the company’s App Tek socket, allowing bassists to access amp simulators, effects, and other apps from their smartphones. Other common features include a Line In, a headphone jack, and a mute switch.
The range begins with the 30-8, a 30-watt practice combo fitted with an 8-inch speaker. It has a 3-band EQ and a mix level control for the aux in. Next is the AAA EVO 60-10T, which bumps the power up to 60 watts with a 10-inch speaker and tweeter. It also adds passive and active inputs, a tube emulated overdrive, and a balanced DI output. For further utility, it has an extension speaker output with its own dedicated 8-ohm min load jack socket.
The 120-15T is a 120-watt combo with a 15-inch speaker and tweeter. It includes the features of the 60-10T with expanded tonal options via a 4-band EQ and a Vintage/Modern buttons that changes the character of the low and high frequencies. The tweeter can be switched off for an old school tone, too.
Strongest in the series is the AAA EVO 300-210T. Rated at 300 watts, the amp carries all the features of the 60-10T and then some. Ashdown says the extension speaker output, which is a combination speakon/jack, can be paired with the line’s cab for larger gigs. The AAA EVO 115T Bass Cabinet pumps out 200 watts at 8 ohms with a single 15-inch driver.
