Red Hot Chili Peppers Announce New Album, Release Single

The Red Hot Chili Peppers have announced their 11th studio album, The Getaway, will be available everywhere on June 17th. The album will be Flea and the gang’s first new album since 2011’s I’m With You.

Besides unveiling the track list and artwork, they’ve announced a full summer’s worth of festival appearances and the first single from the album, entitled “Dark Necessities”. The track floats between several grooves with Flea switching between running 8th notes, a dirty slap line, and cascading fingerstyle runs. Give it a listen:

The Getaway is available for preorder as a limited edition package including a 2xLP 180g Vinyl that is foiled, stamped, and numbered limited to 5,000 worldwide, a 24″ x 24″ lithograph with extended album artwork, digital album delivered on release date, cassette single featuring “Dark Necessities”, and immediate download of the digital single “Dark Necessities”.
