Fender Unveils Limited Edition American Standard “PJ” Bass

Fender’s Magnificent Seven series has gotten a little more magnificent with its first four-stringer called the Limited Edition American Standard “PJ” Bass. As part of the series, they are handcrafted in the U.S.A. and limited to 500 basses worldwide.

The bass blends elements of the company’s two mainstay models with a P Bass body and a Jazz Bass neck (featuring a “C”-shaped profile) as well as a P/J pickup configuration. Dual volume controls and a tone control allow for dialing in the “punch of a single-coil P Bass pickup with the throaty growl of a Jazz Bass bridge pickup,” Fender writes.

Its maple neck, which is reinforced with graphite support rods, is topped with a rosewood fingerboard adorned with white dot inlays. Hardware includes a Fender High Mass Vintage bridge, vintage-style Fender “F” tuners with paddle keys, and a limited edition neck plate.

The 2016 Limited Edition American Standard “PJ” Bass will be available at Fender’s select premium showcase dealers with a street price of $1,599.99.

So… it’s a P/J with custom shop pickups? That’s it? They couldn’t even toss in a real bone nut?
Oh, but it’s got a “limited edition” neck plate. Totally worth it.
