Groove – Episode #26: Nathan East
It’s hard to not hear the music of Nathan East. His discography is – literally – a who’s who of popular music, and it runs across many genres. Whether you have grooved to the sounds of Daft Punk’s massive hit, “Get Lucky” or enjoyed the hit song “Easy Lover” by Phil Collins in the mid-eighties, that’s Nathan.
East has been an integral part of legendary artists careers like Eric Clapton, Michael Jackson, Beyonce, Stevie Wonder, Barbara Streisand, and the list goes on and on. He’s also a founding member of the chart-topping jazz group, Fourplay.
Forty-plus years on into his bass playing career and Nathan is as eager, happy and excited as ever about what the instrument can do. Most recently, he released his latest solo effort, Reverence. To know Nathan is to love him. To know Nathan’s music is to love the encyclopedia of music that he has helped to shape and share with the world.
