Trickfish Amplification Introduces Bullhead .5K Bass Amp

Trickfish Amplification Bullhead .5K Bass Amp

Trickfish Amplification introduced a new bass amp at the Winter NAMM Show this year called the Bullhead .5K. A little brother to the Bullhead 1K, the amp features a Mike Pope low noise preamp matched with a Class D power amplifier that offers 500 watts at 8 ohms and 700 watts at 4 ohms.

“We embarked on an important mission to build a reasonably priced amp that a professional could count on to deliver the dynamics, tone-shaping capability and the power they may need anywhere, at any time,” company founder Richard Ruse states. “Using the Bullhead1K platform we started by reducing the wattage, eliminating some luxury items, re-thinking the signal path and gain-structure and retooling the chassis in an effort to reduce the price. What we kept were the most basic elements and by being smart and careful, we’ve built an amp that is competitively priced, out performs anything in its price range yet isn’t dynamically constrained by limiters or compressors that are common in mid to lower priced products. This amp actually gets a little gnarly and gritty when you push it hard – something you don’t get with the BH1K. So, if you’re a Rock, Blues, R&B, pop, jazz kind of player you’ll find that grease appealing.”

Its equalizer section has a 4-band EQ with eight frequency select options. Housed in an aluminum chassis, the Bullhead .5K also features a parallel effects loop, mute switch, selectable input pad, and a pre/post balanced DI output. It comes in a Deep Sea Blue matte finish.

The Trickfish Amplification Bullhead .5K is slated to ship in mid- to late-April with a street price of $799.
