Ibanez Announces Six-String Fretless Portamento Bass

Ibanez announced the expansion of their Portamento Fretless bass series with a six-string version. The SRF706 will retain the features of its four and five-string predecessors while adding a high C string.

The bass is built with neck-through construction featuring a five-piece maple and bubinga neck, mahogany body wings, and a rosewood fingerboard. Ibanez fits it with a pair of Bartolini MK-1 pickups as well as an AeroSilk piezo system in the bridge. Controls include Bridge Pickup Volume, Neck Pickup Volume, Piezo Volume, Piezo Active Tone, Magnetic Pickup Bass Boost/Cut, and Magnetic Pickup Treble Boost/Cut. The piezo system also has trim pots for each string’s gain.

The Ibanez SRF706 six-string Portamento Fretless bass will available soon with a street price of $999.99.
