Benefit CD for Marc VW Now Available
The music world was shocked in January when Tower of Power bassist Marc Van Wageningen and drummer David Garibaldi were struck by a train on their way to a gig at Yoshi’s Night Club in Oakland, California. Thankfully, they both survived, though Van Wageningen (aka Marc VW) was put in the hospital in serious condition.
One week after the accident, a benefit concert was held to create financial support for the bassist, and the next morning had 31 musicians come together to record a benefit CD. Raise the Marc features Sheila E. Dave Koz, Pete Escovedo, and more. Bassists Raymond McKinley, Dave Belove, and Daniel Parenti provided low-end support.
Van Wageningen is still recuperating in his home in Albany and is reportedly “itching to play again.” All the musicians, as well as the studio, donated their time to this benefit, which will help with continuing costs for Van Wageningen and his family.
Raise the Marc Track List:
