Epiphone Adds Vintage Styled Basses to Pro Series

Epiphone has unveiled two new Pro design basses: the Embassy Pro Bass and the Thunderbird Vintage Pro Bass. The new instruments are inspired by models from the 1960s with modern updates.

Epiphone Embassy Pro Bass

The Embassy Pro commemorates the 60th anniversary of the Epiphone joining Gibson. It’s built with a mahogany neck and body that’s been rebalanced for comfort. It also has improved gear. “It features new ProBucker #760 Bass Humbuckers and improved hardware, including a Tune-o-matic bridge, a ’60s-inspired “claw” tailpiece and 2-on-a-side tuners for better balance,” Epiphone writes.

Epiphone Thunderbird Vintage Pro Bass

The Thunderbird Vintage Pro features the classic offset body shape and is also fitted with the new ProBucker 760 pickups. Epiphone calls it an “incredibly accurate reproduction” of the first Thunderbird introduced in 1963. Available in Alpine White, Ebony, and Tobacco Sunburst, the neck-through bass is built with a seven-piece mahogany and walnut neck with walnut body wings. Similar to the Embassy Pro, it’s fitted with a ’60s Tune-o-matic bridge and a Claw tailpiece.

The Epiphone Embassy Pro Bass and Thunderbird Vintage Pro Bass will be available in October with street prices of $399 and $599.
