Xlson Audio Announces the Chuck Israels Signature Microphone

Xlson Audio has teamed up with jazz bass legend Chuck Israels to release the Chuck Israels Signature Microphone. Developed by Peter Axelsson, the condenser microphone is designed specifically for the upright bass on the stage or in the studio.
“Peter Axelsson has developed a mic that rejects enough extraneous sound that it is practical to use in live situations and in recordings with little or no isolation baffling,” Israels states. “The quality is excellent and I can amplify the bass even louder than I need it.”
The mic is handcrafted in Sweden by Pearl Microphone Lab with a rugged design that carries a five-year warranty. It can be mounted on your bass with either a gooseneck that connects to your tailpiece or an H-clamp that hugs the side of your bass.
“As with any type of microphone, different placement on the bass top will result in different sound characteristics,” Xlson writes. “Placing the microphone under the bridge gives a very detailed and “solid” sound, whereas a placement close to the f-hole will produce a more “airy” sound with more bass and resonances from the body. We encourage you to experiment a bit to find the placement that works best on your bass. However, in a recording situation, a placement close to the f-hole is usually recommended.”
The Xlson Audio Chuck Israels Signature Microphone is available for order now starting at €1,050 (approximately $1,289). The first 25 orders can get a €150 discount with the promo code Chuck150.
