Xlson Audio Unveils New Microphone System for Double Bass

Xlson Microphone System

Xlson Audio has announced a new microphone system designed specifically for the double bass. The new model is a follow-up to Chuck Israel’s signature microphone and builds upon its predecessor in a whole new way.

Designer Peter Axelsson made the microphone as small and lightweight as possible by moving most of its electronics into a separate preamp, which is included in the system.

“The preamp has 2 ouputs; one balanced XLR output, and one amp output for standard jack cable,” Xlson writes. “The silver-colored optimizing wheel at the top of the preamp controls the level of blend with the surrounding sounds; turning it all the way down will allow more of the ambient sounds to slip through the microphone, while turning it all-the-way up will minimize the sound bleed (which in most cases is preferred).”

The microphone itself is mounted over the f-hole using an included clamp that has soft rubber to prevent scratching your instrument.
