Ibanez Introduces Compact Acoustic Electric Basses
Ibanez has launched two new compact acoustic basses with the AVNB1E and the AVNB1FE. The basses, which are fretted and fretless models respectively, feature a 634-millimeter scale with parlor shape body.
“Our short-scale parlor basses offer players compact acoustic options which are better suited for small stages, make for easier trips, and do so without sacrificing low-end tone and presence,” the company writes.
Both models are built with a solid sitka spruce top with mahogany for the body back and sides as well as the neck. They differ mostly in the fingerboard as the 18-fret AVNB1E has an ovangkol board while the fretless AVNB1FE has a cultured maple board. They are each fitted with a Fishman Sonicore pickup and Ibanez’s AEQ-SP2 preamp complete with a built-in tuner. The output section has both a traditional 1/4-inch output and a balanced XLR output.
