Phil Lynott: Ode To A Black Man, Live

Today we’re celebrating the late, great Phil Lynott’s birthday with a clip from The Old Grey Whistle Test. The Thin Lizzy frontman is in top shape performing his song “Ode To A Black Man” from his debut solo album, Solo in Soho, released in 1980.

The bassist lays on the root to dig his signature snarling tone out of his axe while singing. Also, check out Huey Lewis on the harmonica!

In his time with No Treble, Kevin has met hundreds of amazing bassists and interviewed icons like Jack Casady, Victor Wooten, Les Claypool, Marcus Miller, and more. He's a gigging bassist performing jazz in Northern Virginia and bluegrass with The Plate Scrapers up and down the East Coast. Kevin appreciates all genres of music, from R&B to metal and everything in between. Connect with Kevin on Facebook and check his performance schedule on his website.
