Led Zeppelin Reissues “The Song Remains The Same” Soundtrack

Fifty years ago, on September 7th, 1968, the quartet of Jimmy Page, Robert Plant, John Bonham, and John Paul Jones performed their first concert together as The New Yardbirds. Of course, we now know they would become the massive rock band, Led Zeppelin.

The remaining members of the band are celebrating the anniversary with a remastered reissue of the soundtrack to their film, The Song Remains the Same. The film’s performances were taken from a string of gigs in July 1973 at Madison Square Garden in support of their then-current album, Houses of the Holy. Songs include favorites like “Rock and Roll,” “Black Dog,” “The Ocean,” and a 30-minute jam of “Dazed and Confused”.

The all-out Super Deluxe Boxed Set includes a 4-LP set, two CDs, two DVDs of the film with bonus footage, a DVD of the audio, a download card of all the audio content, a 28-page book of photos and an essay from Cameron Crowe, a replica of a Japanese program from 1977, and a high quality print of the original album cover. A 2-CD set will include the remastered audio and a 24-page booklet.

The remastered version of The Song Remains the Same is available now in the boxed set, on CD, vinyl and as a digital download (iTunes and Amazon MP3).
