Warwick Adds Sklar Signature Bass to Teambuilt, Rockbass Lines

Warwick has added the Sklar Bass I Signature to their Teambuilt Artist Series as well as their Rockbass line. Developed with session legend Leland Sklar, the semi-hollow bass is a modified version of their Star Bass.
The Artist Series Teambuilt 4 string model is made in Germany and comes in either a vintage sunburst transparent high polish or burgundy blackburst transparent high polish finish. It’s built with a AAA flamed maple top and carved body, a maple neck with ekanga veneer stripes, and a tigerstripe ebony fingerboard. Its 21 frets are marked with illuminated side-dots. Warwick fits the bass with a pair of MEC vintage single coil pickups matched to a 2-band EQ.
The Rockbass version carries many of the same features while being built in China. It is also built with a AAA Flamed maple top, although it uses a flat 3/8-inch thick piece compared to the German-built model’s carved 1-inch piece. The Rockbass model also uses a Rockbass preamp instead of the MEC. Luckily, both of the Sklar basses include a “Producer Switch,” which famously has no function except psychologically making producer’s feel you’ve changed something.
The new Sklar Bass I models are expected this year with TBD price points.
