EMG Now Shipping Tom Araya, Frank Bello, and David Ellefson Signature Pickup Sets

EMG 2019 Signature Bass Pickup Sets

EMG has introduced three new signature sets of pickups with three of the biggest metal bass stars: Slayer’s Tom Araya, Anthrax’s Frank Bello, and Megadeth’s David Ellefson. Introduced at the 2019 Winter NAMM Show, each of the sets was dialed in with the artists.

The Tom Araya set includes the company’s 35DC paired with a 35J, which they say “deliver his sound with enough articulation to cut through the wall of guitars Slayer is known for.” This combination is paired together for the first time for his TA Signature Set.

Anthrax’s Frank Bello opted for a PJ combination in a striking cover. “Loaded in a red housing, the PCSX paired with the LJAX gave him the ultimate tonal spectrum with the aesthetic he’d always wanted. The thundering chest-punch from the PCSX coupled with the articulate growl of the LJAX was the knockout combo,” EMG writes.

Finally, David Ellefson’s signature DE Set combines a dual-coil (DC) pickup in the bridge and a ceramic and steel (CS) pickup in the neck. Like Araya’s, this is the first time this combination has been offered together. The DE Signature Set is also available in four or five-string versions.

All three packages include EMG’s solderless install system with the necessary pots, cables, and mounting as well as signature picks. They are all available now with prices ranging from $199.99 to $209.99.
