In Memoriam: Scott Plummer

Scott Plummer

Sad news to share today: Viraemia bassist Scott Plummer has died from suicide. The news was shared by bandmate Josh Hernandez on the group’s Facebook page.

“I am sorry to announce my best friend who I loved like a brother took his life today. I tried to prevent this in every way I could. As some of you know many of our members have been suffering from depression. This has been our main hindrance from progressing and releasing new material,” he wrote. “I moved with Scott from the humble town of Defiance, Ohio in 2007 to Phoenix, AZ with the goal of forming a band that was truly unique. That band became known as Viraemia. I love you Scott.”

Plummer shocked many YouTube viewers with his playthrough of the band’s song “Disseminated Intravascular Coagulation,” which exemplifies their extreme technical style of death metal. The bassist employed incredible sweep arpeggios across his 10-string bass in addition to more rhythmic bass lines.

Damn it. Stop doing this. It just can’t be so bad where you think you have to die to feel better.
