Bill Frisell and Thomas Morgan Team Up Again for “Epistrophy”
The mesmerizing guitar and bass duo of Bill Frisell and Thomas Morgan have just released their sophomore album, entitled Epistrophy. Named after one of the two Thelonious Monk songs they cover, the live album captures the incredible empathy and energy they draw from each other’s playing.
Frisell and Morgan go further than jazz standards, performing their own renditions from the Americana songbook with tracks like “All in Fun,” “Red River Valley,” “Wildwood Flower,” and “Save the Last Dance for Me.” Continuing the tradition from their debut, they also cover a James Bond theme with “You Only Live Twice.”
Hear the duo’s chemistry on the classic Frank Sinatra hit “In the Wee Small Hours of the Morning”:
Epistrophy is available now on CD, vinyl and as a digital download (iTunes and Amazon MP3).
